Wall to Wall Builders completed the renovation of the Historic Dunbar Hotel, transforming this iconic landmark into a 43-unit senior affordable housing apartment building. Once the epicenter of the West Coast jazz scene in the 1930s and 1940s and the first African-American-owned hotel in Los Angeles, the Dunbar Hotel now serves as a vibrant residence for seniors.

The renovation included the removal of hazardous asbestos, outdated drywall, and extensive structural repairs. Key upgrades involved the installation of fire sprinklers, a fire alarm system, new drywall, roofing, cabinets, and granite countertops. Significant energy-efficient enhancements were made, including LED lighting, an updated HVAC system, new Energy Star appliances, a modern elevator, solar electric panels, and water-saving plumbing fixtures.

Wall to Wall Builders provided essential support to the project by handling demolition, concrete work, and the installation of new cabinets and granite countertops. Their contributions played a vital role in modernizing the interiors and ensuring a smooth and efficient construction process.

Residents also benefit from amenities such as a new community room, laundry facilities, and a beautifully enclosed glass central courtyard.

The Dunbar Hotel is now part of Dunbar Village, an 85-unit mixed-use, intergenerational community for seniors and families, connected with the newly renovated Somerville Apartments, creating a cohesive and vibrant living environment.
